Cambodia is intensifying efforts to modernize its transport and logistics infrastructure, aiming to bolster its trade competitiveness and enhance integration with regional and global supply chains. This initiative is being spearheaded by Prime Minister Hun Manet, who recently led a Council of Ministers meeting focused on evaluating the progress in improving supply chains, trade routes, and transportation systems.
The government is working on reducing transit costs and strengthening connections between domestic markets and international trade corridors. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy outlined in the Comprehensive Master Plan on the Cambodian Intermodal Transport and Logistics System 2023–2033. This ambitious plan identifies 174 projects for development across various sectors, including roads, railways, waterways, ports, aviation, logistics, and intermodal transport.
With the upgraded transport infrastructure, Cambodia aims to support its manufacturing and agro-processing sectors, facilitate higher-value industries, and attract foreign investment. The government believes these improvements will help cement Cambodia’s role in regional and global trade networks, providing a significant boost to its economic landscape.
As Cambodia seeks to position itself as a competitive player in international trade, the focus on infrastructure development is expected to play a critical role in driving economic growth and enhancing the country’s connectivity with major markets around the world.
