Cambodia and Cuba have entered into a formal agreement to enhance their collaboration in the tourism sector. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed by Cambodian Tourism Minister Huot Hak and Cuba’s Ambassador to Cambodia, Milena Caridad Zaldívar Piedra, establishes a cooperative framework aimed at boosting tourism between the two nations.
The signing ceremony took place in Siem Reap province, a region known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance. The MoU is designed to foster tourism development by encouraging the exchange of knowledge and experiences between Cambodia and Cuba. This agreement also seeks to broaden Cambodia’s tourism outreach into Latin American markets, thereby creating new opportunities for both countries.
Underpinning the agreement are the principles of equality and mutual benefit, which both parties are committed to upholding. By leveraging these principles, Cambodia and Cuba aim to strengthen their longstanding bilateral ties, which were originally established in 1960.
As both nations look to capitalize on this agreement, the MoU is expected to facilitate a more robust exchange of tourism-related expertise and potentially increase tourist flow between the two countries. This initiative represents a significant step in expanding Cambodia’s international tourism engagements, particularly within Latin America.
