Malaysian professionals and employers can now access enhanced risk management education, as the Institute of Risk Management (IRM) has expanded its program offerings to include HRD Corp funding eligibility for its International Certificate in Operational Risk Management (ICORM) and three additional professional risk management awards. This move is designed to bolster skills in enterprise risk management amid challenges such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence, regulatory compliance, operational resilience, and governance.
The announcement comes in response to Malaysia’s workforce development priorities, which identify a skills gap in risk management roles. The IRM is committed to providing flexible, workplace-focused training that enhances decision-making and strengthens organizational resilience. As part of this initiative, IRM aims to help Malaysian employers and professionals cultivate these critical skills.
The HRD Corp-funded programs include courses on Managing AI Risks in the Workplace, addressing governance, ethical, and operational risks linked to artificial intelligence; Financial Services Risk Management, which focuses on practices within banking, insurance, and financial services sectors; and Managing Organisational Risks, which introduces principles of enterprise risk management. Additionally, the International Certificate in Operational Risk Management (ICORM) covers operational risk frameworks, controls, monitoring, reporting, risk culture, and event management.
According to IRM Asia, the regional branch of the organization and an accredited HRD Corp training provider, eligible Malaysian employers can now apply for funding to invest in these internationally recognized qualifications. This initiative aligns with IRM’s broader strategy to expand professional risk management education across the ASEAN region, aiming to help organizations build long-term risk management capabilities.
