Alphabet, the parent company of Google, has achieved its 12th straight quarter of double-digit revenue growth, surpassing analysts’ predictions despite substantial investments in artificial intelligence. The tech giant reported second-quarter earnings of $9.11 per share and a revenue of $119.8 billion, both figures exceeding market expectations.

In light of its ongoing investment in AI technology and infrastructure, Alphabet has adjusted its annual capital expenditure projection to $200 billion. CEO Sundar Pichai emphasized that these AI investments are fostering innovation across various business segments and are integral to the company’s long-term strategy.

Recently, Google enhanced its AI offerings by unveiling three new, more affordable Gemini models, including versions tailored for cybersecurity and lightweight applications. The cybersecurity model is set for a controlled release, initially accessible only to governments and trusted partners.

Despite facing stiff competition from other AI developers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and new entrants from China, Alphabet remains a formidable player in the global tech arena. Even with delays in launching its flagship Gemini Pro model, the company continues to invest significantly to maintain its competitive edge in the rapidly advancing AI sector.
