Heavy rainfall in Indonesia’s Cilacap District, Central Java, has led to significant flooding and landslides, prompting emergency response efforts by local authorities. The Cilacap Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) reported that as of 8 a.m. on Saturday, several areas were still inundated, particularly in the Maos and Kroya sub-districts.

In Maos, Mrenek Village experienced floodwaters reaching depths of 10 to 20 centimeters, while Karangreja Village faced more severe flooding, with water levels rising up to 50 centimeters. Although no evacuations have been reported, authorities are preparing a public kitchen at the village hall to assist residents if conditions deteriorate.

Similarly, in Kroya, the villages of Mujur Lor and Sikampuh reported flooding of approximately 20 centimeters, affecting homes, shops, and a mosque. Efforts are underway to procure heavy equipment to clear water hyacinth blocking a tributary of the Silunjar River, which poses a risk of further flooding due to restricted water flow.

Flooding was also noted in Cilibang Village, Jeruklegi, where water covered agricultural land and encroached onto a main road, though the route remains passable to vehicles. In addition to the flooding, a landslide in Mandala Village, Jeruklegi, has prompted emergency operations to clear debris, with the village administration seeking assistance for heavy machinery.

The BPBD continues to monitor the affected areas and is coordinating with local authorities and relevant agencies to manage the situation and minimize further damage. These efforts are critical in ensuring the safety and well-being of the communities impacted by these natural disasters.
