Indonesia is prepared to export electricity to neighboring countries, including Singapore, but only if the pricing is deemed fair by the Indonesian government. This stance was made clear by Bahlil Lahadalia, the Coordinating Minister for Energy Downstreaming and Transition, who emphasized that any potential export agreements must prioritize Indonesia’s national interests and offer fair commercial value.
Lahadalia highlighted that the primary focus of the government remains on meeting the domestic electricity demand. He assured that exports would be considered only if they do not compromise the country’s internal energy needs. To this end, the government has already established baseline export prices and has advised the Danantara Investment Management Agency to resist any external pressure to lower these rates.
The discussions on electricity exports are part of a larger regional initiative to enhance clean energy cooperation. However, Indonesia maintains a firm position that any such collaboration must ensure fair pricing mechanisms while safeguarding domestic electricity supply.
