Police authorities from Vietnam’s Tây Ninh Province and Cambodia’s Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, and Tboung Khmum provinces have reached an agreement to enhance their collaboration in maintaining security and public order along their shared border. This decision was made during a conference held on Friday in Tây Ninh, where officials evaluated their recent cooperative efforts and devised strategies to bolster their fight against cross-border crime.
The collaboration between the four provincial police forces has been marked by active information exchanges and joint operations targeting various criminal activities. These include drug and human trafficking, smuggling, money laundering, and online fraud. The officials underscored the critical role of direct communication and regular meetings to ensure efficient information exchange and swift handling of cases.
To strengthen these efforts, the police units have agreed to intensify patrols and monitoring of border trails and crossings. This measure aims to curb illegal entries and exits that could potentially facilitate organized transnational crime. Furthermore, they plan to enhance their cooperation in combating terrorism, arms trafficking, and high-tech crimes, while also coordinating on emerging non-traditional security challenges.
The conference concluded with the signing of a memorandum of cooperation, which is intended to fortify crime prevention initiatives and maintain security and public order in the border regions. This formal agreement signifies a commitment to continued collaboration and a shared responsibility in tackling cross-border security challenges.
